Vice President JD Vance recently found himself confronted by a group of pro-Ukraine protestors while out with his young daughter in Ohio.

What Happened: Vance came across a group of “Slava Ukraini” protestors near his residence in East Walnut Hills, Cincinnati. The group, consisting of around 30 to 40 individuals, prominently displayed signs expressing support for Ukraine. They allegedly followed Vance, shouting slogans that caused his three-year-old daughter to become visibly distressed.

In an attempt to distract the protestors from his child, Vance engaged in a dialogue with them. He characterized the exchange as “mostly respectful,” but voiced criticism against involving children in political demonstrations.

He wrote on X, "I decided to speak with the protesters in the hopes that I could trade a few minutes of conversation for them leaving my toddler alone. (Nearly all of them agreed)."

He added it was "mostly respectful conversation, but if you're chasing a 3-year-old as part of a political protest, you're a s-- person."

While the specifics of the conversation were not disclosed by the Vice President, this occurrence follows a tense meeting last month between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in which Vance played a role.

The meeting took a sour turn when Zelensky voiced skepticism regarding Russian President Vladimir Putin‘s commitment to a ceasefire agreement.

In the aftermath of the strained meeting, the U.S. suspended aid to Ukraine and halted intelligence sharing. Vance, who has been known to express doubts about aid to Ukraine, has previously encountered pro-Ukraine protests during a visit to Vermont.
